The Law of Georgia on Entrepreneurs awarded for ensuring the highest quality public-private dialogue

On May 25th, the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI), with the support of the USAID Economic Governance Program, held a presentation of the report Assessing the Quality of Public-Private Dialogue in the Drafting Normative Acts - 2020-2021.

In the framework of the research, the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information examined 18 normative acts. The Law of Georgia on Entrepreneurs earned the highest quality assessment with regard to ensuring the highest quality public-private dialogue and the Parliament of Georgia was awarded with the Certificate of Quality of Public-Private Dialogue.

The Law of Georgia on Entrepreneurs regulates the legal forms of entrepreneurs, the procedures for the establishment and governance of entities carrying out entrepreneurial activities. The Law was adopted by the Parliament of Georgia in August 2021 and it became fully effective on January 1st, 2022. The Investors Council Secretariat was actively involved in the process of modernization of the Company Law reform.   

Head of the Investors Council Secretariat, Mr. Giorgi Cherkezishvili; and Legal Expert of the Investors Council Secretariat (co-author of the book "Annotations to the Georgian Law on Entrepreneurs") Dr. Giorgi Jugeli attended the event. During the panel discussion, Mr. Giorgi Cherkezishvili spoke regarding the Investors Council Secretariat’s role in the process of the Company Law reform.
