The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) together with the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, with the support of the Investors Council is starting the project „Application and Integration of Artificial Intelligence in Customs Formalities”, which will identify and implement appropriate software solutions to further automate Georgia’s customs declarations processes. The project is financially supported by the Korean Technical Assistance and Cooperation Fund.

To support these efforts, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) contracted the company “Zeptos LLC”, which will analyze and verify Revenue Service’s assessment of needs and identified software solutions, or offer alternative solution and implement and integrate it with the Revenue Service’s existing software for export declarations.

The initial kick-off meeting was held on 13th of September, 2022, with the participation of the contracted company “Zeptos LLC”, the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, the EBRD and the Investors Council.

Automating and digitalizing Georgia’s customs declarations processes using artificial intelligence technology will significantly help the SME sector in Georgia; reduce the burden placed on Revenue Service’s customs department personnel, freeing up valuable administrative resource for other services;  provide more efficient and transparent customs procedures- a key consideration for businesses planning their supply chain processes and identifying import/export markets.  In turn, this will help increase Georgia’s attractiveness as an investment destination.
