Meeting with Ms. Claudia Salomon, President of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Court of Arbitration

On May 13th, the Investors Council Secretariat organized a meeting with Ms. Claudia Salomon, President of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Court of Arbitration, which was attended by the IC Members and representatives of the Georgian Business Sector.

The meeting featured welcome speeches by Dr. George Jugeli, Legal Expert of the Investors Council Secretariat, and Mr. Nick Gvinadze, Chairperson of ICC Georgia Arbitration Commission.  Dr. Jugeli stated that the Secretariat supports commercial arbitration in Georgia; stressed the importance of awareness-raising activities in terms of ADR (alternative dispute resolution) and expressed hope that due to its arbitration-friendly legal framework, Georgia can become a regional arbitration hub. Mr. Nick Gvinadze reviewed the ICC International Court of Arbitration’s background and presented Ms. Claudia Salomon to the audience.

Ms. Claudia Salomon delivered a comprehensive presentation regarding the ICC International Court of Arbitration’s background, activities, benefits, means of handling the dispute resolutions, its knowledgeable team, and client-oriented policy. According to her, the ICC International Court of Arbitration is the only international arbitral institution, that is not tied to geography or political will. Only last year, the organization had arbitrations in 100 different countries.

After the meeting, the attendees participated in the discussion, expressed readiness to promote the Arbitration in Georgia, and agreed on future cooperation.
