On 5 February 2026, the Investors Council (IC) Secretariat hosted a meeting on recent developments in Georgia’s labor migration legislative framework, bringing together IC members and legal experts from IC member organizations.
The discussion focused on the practical implications of the framework for businesses. Participants highlighted several implementation challenges, including the treatment of corporate governance roles and whether such functions could be interpreted as requiring work authorisation despite falling outside formal labour relationships. The discussion also addressed compliance procedures, documentation requirements, and the application of the rules to cross-border remote activities.
The meeting reflects the IC Secretariat’s continued engagement with the business community to identify implementation challenges and to contribute practical, business-focused perspectives to the policy dialogue on labour migration.
